The Literacy Legacy
February 2026
1st Edition

This week, our preparations for the District 6840 Conference are making great progress.
The event's theme, IGNITE LITERACY – EMPOWER FUTURES, promises inspiration
and growth. I'm excited for what is sure to be an enjoyable weekend at the IP Casino
Resort & SPA in Biloxi. Registration is now available, so join us and share in the
excitement!

In the past two months, we have participated in Operation Full Plate alongside other
Districts in Zones 30 and 31. The results have been significant: more than 29,000
volunteers, 513,740 food items and meals donated, nearly $1.2 million contributed, and
37,978 hours of volunteer service recorded. These outcomes demonstrate Rotary's
impact and its contributions to our communities. Sincere appreciation is extended to
everyone who took part.

Our upcoming initiative is the 8 in 8 Membership Challenge, which encourages each
club to recruit eight new members within eight weeks, from March 1 to April 30.
Additional details regarding this challenge will be provided by Meg later this week.
Further information about Club Refresh, a program designed to support clubs in growing
their membership, will also be shared soon.

Congratulations to The Rotary Club of St. John the Baptist Parish on their 50th
Anniversary. I will join their celebration this week.

🕊️💙 February is Peacebuilding & Conflict Prevention Month 💙🕊️

February reminds us that peace starts with understanding, compassion, and connection. As Rotarians, we build peace by fostering dialogue, supporting our communities, and choosing collaboration over conflict—locally and globally. 🌍🤝

Every kind conversation, service project, and act of goodwill brings us one step closer to a more peaceful world. Let’s keep showing that Rotary creates peace through action. ✨⚙️
