December marks Disease Prevention and Treatment Month, a time for Rotary to focus on our commitment to fighting disease and promoting health.
Why It Matters
Disease causes pain, suffering, and loss of income, impacting individuals and communities. Early prevention and access to treatment are key to reducing these burdens.
How Can Our Clubs Help?
Support local health initiatives by partnering with hospitals or clinics for health check-ups or vaccination drives.
Raise awareness about preventive measures and healthy living through community events or workshops.
Fundraise for health projects that provide necessary medical supplies, treatments, or services in underserved areas.
Together, we can make a meaningful difference in promoting health and preventing disease.
📜 Rotary Legislative Update
For the first time, our District submitted a resolution to the Council on Resolutions—and it passed with a vote of 342 to 111! Out of 44 resolutions worldwide, only 16 were approved.
Our resolution addressed recent public statements by Rotary leadership on global conflicts, emphasizing that such comments should be identified as personal opinions and not Rotary’s official stance. Another similar resolution also passed.
While advisory, the strong support (75%+) suggests Rotary’s boards may reconsider making such statements in the future.
Mississippi is giving it their all, but Louisiana is keeping that winning mentality alive and kicking! 🏆🔥 Looks like that change of mascots just wasn’t enough to shift the tide. Can Mississippi find the spark they need to turn this game around? Stay tuned!
